Introducing 'Masquerade': My First Serialized Story
A weekly sci-fi mystery in four parts. It's my first Substack serial, y'all!
Last week, I promised you guys the title and banner of my new sci-fi mystery. Well, here it is.
I rather enjoy making these designs so I also went ahead and made a poster. You can see that below and read on for a plot synopsis.
1979. A reclusive film director is murdered. A cat is never where it should be. There’s nothing special about the basement. Hawthorne House is full of liars. Married crime-solving duo Frank Nevers and Cleo Moon are on the case. Would it be too cliché if I said “nothing is as it seems”?
I’ve been working on this story for a very, very long time and I’m glad it’s finally seeing the light of day. That’s not to say I’m not also shitting myself with nervousness. Masquerade will be told in four parts released weekly, so that’s something you can look forward to. I’d love it if you could let me know what you think of the story (something I can look forward to).
Before I end this not-at-all hastily put-together post, I’d just like to say one last thing: thank you for reading what I write. I have six subscribers at the moment and, while I obviously hope to see more join the ranks, it means a lot to me that the six of you clicked that subscribe button so early on in this journey. I really hope you enjoy what’s coming.
Awesome! Glad to see other writers publishing serial fiction on Substack.
Really great work on the cover art!
