Catching Up and Exciting News!
Thorfinn Grimm is going to the printers!
Hello dear reader,
I hope this email finds you well! It’s been a while since I last reached out, and I wanted to reconnect and share some exciting updates with you.
I’ve been busy working on the Thorfinn Grimm book for the past month, and I finally have some concrete details to share with you. Let’s start with the title and cover art, shall we?
Thorfinn Grimm: Year One
The artwork used in the cover was created by my brother Ryan Jovakim Noronha and the final design was done by yours truly, with help from my editor, proofreader, and best friend Maddie P.
Here’s the official synopsis for the book:
Thorfinn Grimm is a brilliant private detective with a unique mind. Unfortunately, he’s also the victim of a terrible curse of his own making. Join this eternally unlucky sleuth as he investigates murders, thefts, sick chickens, and more, with the assistance of his best friends and estranged family. There’s no case too small or too big for our unorthodox mystery-solver. But can he find the solution to his curse, or will his paranoia lead him to his ultimate downfall?
So what’s in the book? My original plan was to include the stories I’ve already published here plus three new ones. Unfortunately, the creativity well has run dry in recent weeks and I couldn’t hit that target. Instead, what the book does contain are six cases derived from the ones you’re already familiar with, but edited, reshuffled, and — in some cases — significantly rewritten. While the general beats and solutions of the stories remain the same, I’ve tried to improve the language and structure as much as possible. I hope you will approve.
Pre-orders for the book will be opening soon and I really hope you will all buy a copy. The original versions of the stories will remain here for the time being but I will be archiving (most of) them once the book officially comes out.
“The Week of the Witch” and “The Final Solution” WILL be going into the archive because… well, I don’t like them. I don’t think they’re my best work and, while I have included certain parts of them in the book, the stories themselves should no longer be considered part of the Thorfinn Grimm “canon”, such as it is.
As for what’s next, I will return to writing more of Thorfinn’s Accursed Adventures in the near future. Whether Year Two gets released as a book, however, will depend entirely on how well the first one performs. As I’m sure many of you know, it’s a lot of work putting a book together and I only have so much time and energy to spare.
Thank you for your continued support, and stay tuned for more!
Sincerely Yours,
Remus Noronha
I’m not familiar with too many of your stories so I’m just looking forward to reading the book regardless of what’s in it. Good luck with your preorders!
I can’t choose!! (Sorry, no help at all, I know.)
