There's something about the cavalier manner of "catching up with a friend" juxtaposed against one of the heaviest subjects in a human condition--"over a dead body," that really rings. Add to that the play-on-word of "over *a* dead body"--which I don't know you intended or not, but--which definitely echoes with the "over my dead body" phrase. A very affecting piece.
