New 'Thorfinn Grimm' Story Coming This Week!
And just a little bit of housekeeping.
Hello again, dear reader!
As you may know, I’ve been hard at work on new Accursed Adventures for a while now, and I’m happy to announce a release date and title for the first new Thorfinn Grimm story of the year.
The first chapter of “The Green Light” will be released on Saturday, June 28, 2025, right here on Substack. After Chapter 1, new chapters will be released bi-weekly, with the final chapter coming out on August 23.
Regular readers of Finn’s adventures might recognise that title as the name of a certain shadowy cabal that has haunted our detective for months now. This story finally pushes that plot forward in a big way and sets up some cool stuff to come in the future. As a result, I’ve done a lot more plotting with this one than usual, and I’m both intensely excited and terribly nervous.
You may also notice that this newsletter is in the middle of a redesign, with a new homepage and branding. This is partly because I wanted a change, and partly because I’m trying to give the newsletter a more focused approach. It’s an ongoing update at the moment, and I’d love to get your opinion on the new name.
While it has served me well, All My Dreams Are Red was always meant to be a placeholder title, and I’d like to replace it with something that more accurately captures the sort of short, quirky stories I write here. I’ve got two options so far but I am open to suggestions. Let me know what you think:
That’s all for now. See you on Saturday!
P.S. Just between you and me, here’s a special spoiler preview of the new story. It’s our little secret, so whatever you do, don’t tell anyone!
“The body’s at the hospital,” said the constable. “We don’t keep them at the station.”
“That’s alright, I’ve already been. Sorry, I should have said that. No, I’ve already seen the body, and I’m here to officially make a statement identifying him. It. Them?”
“Who is it?” Joe snapped, immediately regretting his impatience. “Sir, do you know the victim?”
“Yes, I’m afraid so,” said Pippin, biting his lip. “It’s my roommate, Thorfinn Grimm.”
<cue evil laughter>
Noooo! The snippet! Aieeee! I actually really like your current title, but I get it if it doesn’t sing to you any more. The second choice is a little too bland, imho.
